Colour: MATTE CARBON SMOKE

Fuel EX 9.9 makes no compromises. Top-shelf suspension, carbon everything and a super-smooth Shimano XTR drive train make this ripper ready to rule any trail in style. It's fast, it's light, and it's got everything you need to crush your next trail ride.

You want a bike as versatile as you are, and you're demanding ? of yourself and of your equipment. You want the lightest weight, the most adjustability and the highest precision so the last thing you have to worry about on your next adventure is your bike.

A light and stiff OCLV Mountain Carbon frame with internal storage, FOX Factory suspension with Kashima Coat and an efficient yet plush RE:aktiv with Thru Shaft damper. A Shimano XT 1x12 drive train for super-smooth shifting that's easy on the thumb ? plus an extra-low 51-tooth climbing gear, and Bontrager carbon wheels and loads of other carbon parts for lower weight and elevated good looks.

If you can have just one mountain bike, this is it. Fuel EX 9.9 has the lightest parts with the most adjustability and precision. It's equally at home on fast, flowy singletrack, brutal leg-busting climbs and gnarly arm-pumping descents.
- Fuel EX 9.9 is for riders who want the best in everything. It's dripping with carbon and has the latest in suspension and drive train tech
- RE:aktiv with Thru Shaft works faster than a normal shock, so it tracks the ground better and keeps you in control
- The Fox Factory 36 fork gives you four-way damping adjustments, plus you get Kashima Coat for smoother, more durable stanchions
- We expanded our size range to ensure a better fit for all riders. And, you get the fastest wheel that fits your frame: XS frames get 27.5? wheels, S frames get to choose between 27.5? or 29? and sizes M to XL get 29? wheels

Will my bike have a curved top tube?
Smaller frames (XS and S) have a top tube that dips down as it approaches the seat tube. This design makes for a lower standover height, which is good for shorter riders because it allows them to straddle their bike more easily. Larger frames (M and up) have a straight top tube because taller riders with longer legs typically don?t have the same issues with standover height.

Active Braking Pivot
Active Braking Pivot allows our engineers to tune how the suspension reacts to acceleration and braking forces independently. That means you get more confident control when you need it most.

Internal Storage
Internal frame storage makes it easy to ditch the pack and still carry your ride essentials.

RE:aktiv with Thru Shaft
RE:aktiv with Thru Shaft gives you unmatched grip and control with a shock that reacts to the terrain faster than anything else out there.

OCLV Mountain Carbon
Trek's mountain-specific carbon fibre is tougher carbon, with unique materials and lay-up procedures, Trek's advanced engineering, and a higher standard of testing.

GET UP TO 39% OFF THE COST OF YOUR NEW BIKE: HAPPY CYCLE TO WORK DAY

The UK’s Cycle To Work Scheme has been in place for over 20 years now, offering fantastic discounts to tens of thousands of riders.

The Cycle To Work Scheme, is offered through many thousands of employers in the UK and applies to bikes of all types, whether it’s road, MTB or hybrid, and that includes e-bikes too.

About the Cycle To Work Scheme

Introduced in 1999, the scheme aims to encourage employees to commute on their bike for environmental, traffic congestion and health reasons. It also enables companies to demonstrate that they’re looking after the wellbeing of their people.

Obviously, you’re supposed to use the bike for commuting – and we are massive supporters of getting to work this way – but it’s fine to buy a bike that’s built for the trails. Your employer owns the bike until you pay the final ownership fee, which is based on the “fair market value” of it at the end of that period.

As well as your new bike, you can use the scheme to buy accessories, such as helmets and bags, though these have to be ostensibly for your commute. So, no full face masks, for example. If you don’t have a lock, we strongly advise that you get one along with your bike as you’re liable for the Cycle To Work payments, even if it gets stolen while you’re paying it off.

How does the Cycle To Work Scheme work?

This is a salary sacrifice scheme for people aged 18 and over where the monthly payment for your bike is taken out before tax and National Insurance are deducted. Because your contribution is taken before tax, you pay off more per month for less. So, for a bike costing £1,200, £100 is taken from your salary every month but it only costs you £68 because the other £32 would have normally gone to the tax man, right? So, you pay 12 instalments of £68 and a final ownership fee of £300, totalling £1,116. If your salary puts you in the higher tax brackets, you actually save more but you get the gist.

I’m interested. What do I need to do?

Firstly, find out which scheme your employer is enrolled in and therefore where you can buy your bike from. We work with a number of Cycle To Work providers, including cyclescheme.co.uk, cycleplus and Bikes for the NHS.

Then you need to speak to your HR department and request a certificate, bring it to us and we’ll redeem it against the cost of your bike and accessories. The salary sacrifice commences from your next pay packet.

To get a bike on the scheme, your employer needs to sign up to a provider. If they’re unsure about how to do this, send them to us and we’ll help.
