Meet the TREK 2023 Top Fuel 9.7, a versatile full suspension carbon mountain bike designed to be as tough and nippy as a cross-country bike, yet adept at navigating complex trail sections just like a trail bike. Get set to dominate steep upward gradients, thunder across flat terrains and forge your path through the roughest descents.

This bike is the dream for those seeking one bike that can handle all terrains – from smooth cross-country tracks to thrilling, bumpy trail routes. The carbon frame lends a performance edge while ensuring the bike is light and robust enough to withstand whatever journey you have in mind.

Key features include a lightweight, sturdy full carbon frame, a 130mm FOX Rhythm fork for excellent front suspension, 120 mm of rear travel with a FOX Performance Float shock and a 1x12 Shimano SLX/XT drivetrain. The ride is further optimized with the presence of 4-piston brakes for assured descents, a Bontrager Line Dropper and Bontrager Line Comp 30 wheels that are fully tubeless and inclusive of sealant.

A highlight of the TREK 2023 Top Fuel 9.7 is undoubtedly the carbon frame which guarantees a lightweight ride that doesn't skimp on responsiveness. The suspension set-up strikes a balance between efficiency and excitement, delivering on Control at every stage of your ride.

The Trail bike also sports a sleek internal storage compartment for carrying tools and gear, and the innovate Knock Block feature, which maximises steering angles while keeping cables and hoses safe.

Bike owners can further look forward to the advantage of Active Braking Pivot which allows engineers to independently manage how the suspension reacts to acceleration and braking forces. This guarantees enhanced control even during the most demanding rides.

This progressive trail geometry makes use of 120mm rear travel to ensure a fast, adept performance, helping you to maintain control even on the rowdiest of trails. Guided internal cable routing makes for smooth, quiet cycling and easier bike maintenance. Smaller frames (XS and S) boast a curved top tube which facilitates easier straddling for shorter riders, whereas larger frames (M and up) have a straight top tube, catering to the needs of taller cyclists.

Lastly, Shimano XT components lend a performance edge to this mountain bike. As a tried-and-tested system respected by mountain bikers across the globe, Shimano XT excels in providing reliable shifting, superior braking and intuitive maintenance – making the TREK 2023 Top Fuel 9.7 the high-performance workhorse you can depend on.

GET UP TO 39% OFF THE COST OF YOUR NEW BIKE: HAPPY CYCLE TO WORK DAY

The UK’s Cycle To Work Scheme has been in place for over 20 years now, offering fantastic discounts to tens of thousands of riders.

The Cycle To Work Scheme, is offered through many thousands of employers in the UK and applies to bikes of all types, whether it’s road, MTB or hybrid, and that includes e-bikes too.

About the Cycle To Work Scheme

Introduced in 1999, the scheme aims to encourage employees to commute on their bike for environmental, traffic congestion and health reasons. It also enables companies to demonstrate that they’re looking after the wellbeing of their people.

Obviously, you’re supposed to use the bike for commuting – and we are massive supporters of getting to work this way – but it’s fine to buy a bike that’s built for the trails. Your employer owns the bike until you pay the final ownership fee, which is based on the “fair market value” of it at the end of that period.

As well as your new bike, you can use the scheme to buy accessories, such as helmets and bags, though these have to be ostensibly for your commute. So, no full face masks, for example. If you don’t have a lock, we strongly advise that you get one along with your bike as you’re liable for the Cycle To Work payments, even if it gets stolen while you’re paying it off.

How does the Cycle To Work Scheme work?

This is a salary sacrifice scheme for people aged 18 and over where the monthly payment for your bike is taken out before tax and National Insurance are deducted. Because your contribution is taken before tax, you pay off more per month for less. So, for a bike costing £1,200, £100 is taken from your salary every month but it only costs you £68 because the other £32 would have normally gone to the tax man, right? So, you pay 12 instalments of £68 and a final ownership fee of £300, totalling £1,116. If your salary puts you in the higher tax brackets, you actually save more but you get the gist.

I’m interested. What do I need to do?

Firstly, find out which scheme your employer is enrolled in and therefore where you can buy your bike from. We work with a number of Cycle To Work providers, including cyclescheme.co.uk, cycleplus and Bikes for the NHS.

Then you need to speak to your HR department and request a certificate, bring it to us and we’ll redeem it against the cost of your bike and accessories. The salary sacrifice commences from your next pay packet.

To get a bike on the scheme, your employer needs to sign up to a provider. If they’re unsure about how to do this, send them to us and we’ll help.
