The Checkpoint ALR 5 is an adventure-ready alloy gravel bike that's kitted with quality parts for long, rugged, miles on anything from chunky gravel to smooth tarmac. A wealth of features like loads of mounts for bags and racks, and a SRAM Apex 1x12 drivetrain makes this Checkpoint ready to customise for your next adventure.

You favour epic gravel adventures that end with a big beverage and a burrito. But that doesn't mean you'll compromise on performance. You expect to get a lot for your hard-earned money, including quality, versatility, durability and a ridiculous amount of fun.

A stout 300 Series Alpha Aluminium frame with a progressive geometry that's stable at speed and efficient when you're grinding up a climb, hidden cables that won't interfere with bags, rack and mudguard mounts and integrated frame bag mounts, a 1x12 SRAM Apex drivetrain for grinding up hills or through rough gravel, hydraulic disc brakes for all-condition stopping power, tubeless-ready rims and wide Bontrager Girona Pro 700x42c gravel tyres for added stability and traction.

If the amount of adventure you can get per pound spent is a priority for you, the Checkpoint ALR 5 is your ride. Quality parts, a durable alloy frame and a wealth of features like extra tyre clearance and customisation options so you can confidently take on bigger, better adventures.
- Its progressive geometry is quick and nimble yet keeps you stable and in control on fast, choppy descents
- You get serious versatility that's suited for a wide variety of ride styles, from gravel and bikepacking to daily commutes
- Massive tyre clearance means you can use tyres up to 45 c for extra traction and stability in any conditions
- Integrated frame bag mounts and rack and mudguard mounts make it easy to carry gear and water
- SRAM's Apex 1x12 drivetrain gives you tons of gears for grinding up steep grades

New progressive geometry

Tyre clearance
Lots of clearance means you can run meatier tyres (700x45 mm or 27.5x2.1"") for tackling chunkier gravel and terrain.

Tons of mounts
Integrated frame bag and mudguard mounts make it easy to carry gear and water.

Don't forget your pedals
This bike doesn't come with pedals because you'll have a better time on your new bike if you choose your own. See the pedal guide to find the best pedals for your riding style.

GET UP TO 39% OFF THE COST OF YOUR NEW BIKE: HAPPY CYCLE TO WORK DAY

The UK’s Cycle To Work Scheme has been in place for over 20 years now, offering fantastic discounts to tens of thousands of riders.

The Cycle To Work Scheme, is offered through many thousands of employers in the UK and applies to bikes of all types, whether it’s road, MTB or hybrid, and that includes e-bikes too.

About the Cycle To Work Scheme

Introduced in 1999, the scheme aims to encourage employees to commute on their bike for environmental, traffic congestion and health reasons. It also enables companies to demonstrate that they’re looking after the wellbeing of their people.

Obviously, you’re supposed to use the bike for commuting – and we are massive supporters of getting to work this way – but it’s fine to buy a bike that’s built for the trails. Your employer owns the bike until you pay the final ownership fee, which is based on the “fair market value” of it at the end of that period.

As well as your new bike, you can use the scheme to buy accessories, such as helmets and bags, though these have to be ostensibly for your commute. So, no full face masks, for example. If you don’t have a lock, we strongly advise that you get one along with your bike as you’re liable for the Cycle To Work payments, even if it gets stolen while you’re paying it off.

How does the Cycle To Work Scheme work?

This is a salary sacrifice scheme for people aged 18 and over where the monthly payment for your bike is taken out before tax and National Insurance are deducted. Because your contribution is taken before tax, you pay off more per month for less. So, for a bike costing £1,200, £100 is taken from your salary every month but it only costs you £68 because the other £32 would have normally gone to the tax man, right? So, you pay 12 instalments of £68 and a final ownership fee of £300, totalling £1,116. If your salary puts you in the higher tax brackets, you actually save more but you get the gist.

I’m interested. What do I need to do?

Firstly, find out which scheme your employer is enrolled in and therefore where you can buy your bike from. We work with a number of Cycle To Work providers, including cyclescheme.co.uk, cycleplus and Bikes for the NHS.

Then you need to speak to your HR department and request a certificate, bring it to us and we’ll redeem it against the cost of your bike and accessories. The salary sacrifice commences from your next pay packet.

To get a bike on the scheme, your employer needs to sign up to a provider. If they’re unsure about how to do this, send them to us and we’ll help.
