The Fuel EXe 9.8 GX AXS takes an evolved approach to e-mountain biking with a revolutionary motor that packs space-age technology in a tiny but mighty package. It's built on a carbon fibre chassis that's light, stiff and nimble for a lively and playful trail feel. And to keep a good thing going, it's topped off with carbon wheels, the wireless shifting technology of a SRAM GX AXS transmission and the silky-smooth suspension of a RockShox Lyrik Select+ fork and SuperDeluxe Select+ rear suspension.

You want a lively trail bike that feels like a traditional mountain bike in quick, techy terrain, but gives you a little boost in pedal power on the way back up. You want space-age technology everywhere from motor to group set, and upgraded suspension that keeps you floating on the trail. You don't want to lose out on the natural experience of mountain biking, and want a refined motor that quietly assists while you ride.

An OCLV Mountain Carbon frame equipped with a fully encased 360 Wh battery and TQ harmonic pin ring transmission with a smart charging port, integrated LED display and discreet handlebar remote. Plus, a 150 mm RockShox Lyrik Select+ fork with DebonAir spring and Charger 2.1 RC damper, and 140 mm RockShox Super Deluxe Select+ rear suspension. The cherry on top? SRAM's GX AXS transmission that keeps shifts crispy, even under load.

The Fuel EXe 9.8 is a refined trail bike with just the right amount of power for scorching climbs before turning around to rally though technical and flow trails alike. It's equipped with future-minded technology, like the space-approved TQ transmission and wireless SRAM GX AXS shifting that keeps your cockpit minimalist. Finally, carbon wheels and an upgraded RockShox suspension package keeps you floating on the trail
- You get a bike that rides like your favourite trail bike on descents and gives you adaptive assist on the climbs that doesn't make you feel like a cheat
- Its tiny-but-mighty TQ transmission is tuned for the trail, keeping things quiet so you can stay in the moment, plus it ramps up power with you for a natural ride feel
- The smart charge port, sleek integrated display and discreet controls keep the bike looking and feeling like a traditional mountain bike
- The battery is simple to remove with an Allen key - no proprietary tools or black magic necessary
- You'll be able to add on a range extender when you want a little extra fuel in the tank for big days on the bike

TQ-HPR50 - small, quiet, mighty
The TQ-HPR50 motor is super-efficient with an amazing power-to-weight ratio. Most motors use gears and belts that take up space and can make noise or break. The TQ-HPR50 uses a harmonic pin-ring drive transmission that's small, ultra-quiet and unbelievably natural-feeling.

Range Extender
Give yourself 40% more range with an optional 160 Wh external battery. It fits in a standard bottle cage and doesn't require any complicated wiring or special mounts.

Connect, customise, calculate
The Trek Central app seamlessly connects with your bike for custom motor tuning, activity tracking and more ways to analyse and personalise your ride. You even get navigation features and real-time range calculations.

Removable battery
The 360 Wh battery gives you power for 2-5 hours. It's concealed in the downtube, but it's still easy to remove for more convenient charging.

Active Braking Pivot
Active Braking Pivot allows our engineers to tune how the suspension reacts to acceleration and braking forces independently. That means you get more confident control when you need it most.

You almost forgot your pedals
This bike doesn't come with pedals because you'll have a better ride if you choose your own. Explore the pedal guide to find the best pedals for your riding style. Reach for flat pedals for simple versatility or go for clipless MTB pedals if you want control and efficiency.

GET UP TO 39% OFF THE COST OF YOUR NEW BIKE: HAPPY CYCLE TO WORK DAY

The UK’s Cycle To Work Scheme has been in place for over 20 years now, offering fantastic discounts to tens of thousands of riders.

The Cycle To Work Scheme, is offered through many thousands of employers in the UK and applies to bikes of all types, whether it’s road, MTB or hybrid, and that includes e-bikes too.

About the Cycle To Work Scheme

Introduced in 1999, the scheme aims to encourage employees to commute on their bike for environmental, traffic congestion and health reasons. It also enables companies to demonstrate that they’re looking after the wellbeing of their people.

Obviously, you’re supposed to use the bike for commuting – and we are massive supporters of getting to work this way – but it’s fine to buy a bike that’s built for the trails. Your employer owns the bike until you pay the final ownership fee, which is based on the “fair market value” of it at the end of that period.

As well as your new bike, you can use the scheme to buy accessories, such as helmets and bags, though these have to be ostensibly for your commute. So, no full face masks, for example. If you don’t have a lock, we strongly advise that you get one along with your bike as you’re liable for the Cycle To Work payments, even if it gets stolen while you’re paying it off.

How does the Cycle To Work Scheme work?

This is a salary sacrifice scheme for people aged 18 and over where the monthly payment for your bike is taken out before tax and National Insurance are deducted. Because your contribution is taken before tax, you pay off more per month for less. So, for a bike costing £1,200, £100 is taken from your salary every month but it only costs you £68 because the other £32 would have normally gone to the tax man, right? So, you pay 12 instalments of £68 and a final ownership fee of £300, totalling £1,116. If your salary puts you in the higher tax brackets, you actually save more but you get the gist.

I’m interested. What do I need to do?

Firstly, find out which scheme your employer is enrolled in and therefore where you can buy your bike from. We work with a number of Cycle To Work providers, including cyclescheme.co.uk, cycleplus and Bikes for the NHS.

Then you need to speak to your HR department and request a certificate, bring it to us and we’ll redeem it against the cost of your bike and accessories. The salary sacrifice commences from your next pay packet.

To get a bike on the scheme, your employer needs to sign up to a provider. If they’re unsure about how to do this, send them to us and we’ll help.
