The crankbrothers Eggbeater 2 is a renowned pedal crafted by Carl and Frank, the original founders of crankbrothers. They were tired of struggling with pedals caked in mud and lacking a way in or out. Realizing that existing pedals were overly complex, they asked a simple question: what is the best method to attach a shoe to a crank? In response to this query, Carl and Frank created a system with just two moving parts that pivot on a spring. This system became known as the Eggbeater pedal and was later adapted into the Candy pedal. The Eggbeater pedal's simplistic design offers the advantage of exceptional mud shedding and four points of entry. This makes it a perfect choice for XC, trail riding, and cyclo cross disciplines. The pedal includes premium brass cleats, shims, and has a release angle of 15° to 20°. Additionally, it comes with a 5-year warranty and weighs 280g per pair. The spindle is made from forged scm435 chromoly steel, while the body is cast from stainless steel. The wings are stamped stainless steel, and the spring is made from 300 series stainless steel. The inner bearing is a bushing, and the outer bearing is a cartridge. There are no weight restrictions for riders, and special edition colors include silver and black. To customize the fit and feel of your pedal, you can use crankbrothers tread contact sleeves (CRB-13282). These sleeves come in three different thicknesses, enabling riders to ensure good contact between their shoes and the pedal axle. As the tread wears down, the contact can shift from the axle to the wings of the pedal. If you also use the pedals on your road or commuter bike, you can purchase a set of Quattro cleats (CRB-15289) to use with your road shoes. These cleats provide four points of entry to the pedals, making it easier to start from junctions.Like the rest of the crankbrothers range, these pedals are fully serviceable with a level 1/2 service kit (product code CRB-11729). Servicing is simple and requires no specialist tools, only a flat head screwdriver, socket wrench, and 8mm allen key to hold the pedal by the axle. We recommend cleaning and greasing the pedal every 30 hours of riding and inspecting the bearings for wear.
