The Fuel EX 9.8 XT is an all-around trail bike that blends the light, smooth ride of a carbon frame with upgraded parts made for hard rides. Decked out with 150 mm of front and 140 mm rear FOX Performance suspension, you'll be ready to float through the tough stuff, while carbon wheels keep you tracking through rowdy terrain. A Shimano XT drivetrain tops things off for precise shifting for power on descents and relief on long climbs.

You're chasing long flowy and technical descents, and want to pedal back to the top for more, lap after lap. You want the vibration-damping benefits of a carbon frame and carbon wheels, plus upgraded suspension that smooths out the rough and rowdy.

A light and stiff carbon frame with a full FOX Performance suspension package that smooths out rowdy rock gardens and root latices. Plus, carbon wheels that keep your set-up light, while a Shimano XT drivetrain for smooth shifting and brake modulation. Finally, you'll find adjustable geometry and in-frame storage for keeping your set-up dialled just for you.

The Fuel EX 9.8 is the culmination of years of trail riding and progression, with longer front end geometry for tackling steeper and hairier descents, and a steeper seat tube to keep you perched on climbs. It's equipped with the cherry-picked components you want, like upgraded suspension, carbon wheels and a Shimano XT drivetrain.

- You'll get the light weight and vibration-damping benefits of a full carbon frame, and geometry built to handle anything

- It comes with light and stiff carbon wheels that make quick work of technical terrain and keep you on your line, even when things get hairy

- With the adjustable angle headset (angled cups sold separately) and Mino Link, you can choose from six different geometry configurations

- We expanded our size range to ensure a better fit for all riders, and use the best-fitting wheels for each frame size: XS frames get 27.5? wheels, S frames get to choose between 27.5? or 29?, and sizes M and up get 29? wheels

- You get the precise shifting and brake modulation of a Shimano XT drivetrain, plus the simple reliability of a threaded bottom bracket

Internal Storage

Internal frame storage makes it easy to ditch the pack and still carry your ride essentials.

Active Braking Pivot

Active Braking Pivot allows our engineers to tune how the suspension reacts to acceleration and braking forces independently. That means you get more confident control when you need it most.

Slack or steep, the choice is yours

Install angle-adjust headset cups (sold separately) to tweak the 64.5-degree head tube angle a degree steeper or slacker to your liking ? all without impacting your bottom bracket height.

Adjust the sus for full send

Adjust the leverage rate with just a flip of a chip. Ride it in the Less progressive setting for a plusher feel perfect for rugged trails with square-edge bumps. Flip it to More progressive when you're hitting big features and don?t want to bottom-out, or when you want to run a coil shock.

Size-specific stays

Size-specific chainstays provide balanced handling to keep the ride nimble for smaller riders and improve front wheel traction on climbs for taller riders.

Business at the front, party at the back

Craving the nimble ride of 27.5? wheels but don?t want to sacrifice the speed of a 29er? No need to choose. The Fuel EX is mullet-ready, just throw Mino Link into high, toss on a 160 mm fork and get ready to party.

GET UP TO 39% OFF THE COST OF YOUR NEW BIKE: HAPPY CYCLE TO WORK DAY

The UK’s Cycle To Work Scheme has been in place for over 20 years now, offering fantastic discounts to tens of thousands of riders.

The Cycle To Work Scheme, is offered through many thousands of employers in the UK and applies to bikes of all types, whether it’s road, MTB or hybrid, and that includes e-bikes too.

About the Cycle To Work Scheme

Introduced in 1999, the scheme aims to encourage employees to commute on their bike for environmental, traffic congestion and health reasons. It also enables companies to demonstrate that they’re looking after the wellbeing of their people.

Obviously, you’re supposed to use the bike for commuting – and we are massive supporters of getting to work this way – but it’s fine to buy a bike that’s built for the trails. Your employer owns the bike until you pay the final ownership fee, which is based on the “fair market value” of it at the end of that period.

As well as your new bike, you can use the scheme to buy accessories, such as helmets and bags, though these have to be ostensibly for your commute. So, no full face masks, for example. If you don’t have a lock, we strongly advise that you get one along with your bike as you’re liable for the Cycle To Work payments, even if it gets stolen while you’re paying it off.

How does the Cycle To Work Scheme work?

This is a salary sacrifice scheme for people aged 18 and over where the monthly payment for your bike is taken out before tax and National Insurance are deducted. Because your contribution is taken before tax, you pay off more per month for less. So, for a bike costing £1,200, £100 is taken from your salary every month but it only costs you £68 because the other £32 would have normally gone to the tax man, right? So, you pay 12 instalments of £68 and a final ownership fee of £300, totalling £1,116. If your salary puts you in the higher tax brackets, you actually save more but you get the gist.

I’m interested. What do I need to do?

Firstly, find out which scheme your employer is enrolled in and therefore where you can buy your bike from. We work with a number of Cycle To Work providers, including cyclescheme.co.uk, cycleplus and Bikes for the NHS.

Then you need to speak to your HR department and request a certificate, bring it to us and we’ll redeem it against the cost of your bike and accessories. The salary sacrifice commences from your next pay packet.

To get a bike on the scheme, your employer needs to sign up to a provider. If they’re unsure about how to do this, send them to us and we’ll help.
