Stage Wins, Podium Finishes And An Exciting Announcement For 2023: Team Boompods Season Review

The road competition season is now over and so we’re looking back over a brilliant year for Team Boompods, the women’s cycling team who 12 months ago become the first elite team we have sponsored. Here, Team Boompods Co-Manager Hannah Farran gives us the run-down of her highlights from 2022.

This really has been a stand-out year for the team. We have had our most successful year to date.

We have participated in the Tour Series since 2018 so to finally win a round was a huge achievement for Ellen and the team in round six in Barking (below left). This strong performance was backed up a few days later in Manchester with a team round win (below right).

A big target for us this year has been the National Road Series. A goal within that was to win a round of the series which was achieved emphatically when Mary won in dominant fashion at the Lancaster Grand Prix. This was then followed up later in the season with Monica placing 3rd at the Curlew Cup. To top off a successful National Road Series campaign we finished second overall in the series behind a leading UCI Continental team.

Moving into the latter part of the season we competed in September in the Rás na mBan, Ireland’s premier women’s stage race, which consists of six stages over 400km. We finished with Mary 7th on the general classification and first in the Masters category, a podium for Ellen on stage four and the team finishing third in the team standings.

Team Co-Manager Hannah Farran said: “Across the board we have stepped up as a team this year, winning on a national stage alongside performing regionally too with an overall and individual win at the Cold Dark North Series. We are now planning ahead for 2023 and looking forward to working alongside Big Bear Bikes as we seek to achieve new goals next season.”

David Beeley, Managing Director of Big Bear Bikes, said: “We are very proud to continue working with and supporting Team Boompods for a second year. The team achieved fantastic success in 2022 and have set even higher targets for 2023, going bigger and better! We look forward to seeing their distinctive green jerseys and red helmets at the front of the pack and challenging for race wins. Chapeau Team Boompods!”
